After Bru’s animated movie idea about a looming meteorite is rejected – only for it to come true – Bru & Boegie must stop the Bru-shaped space rock using the power of their excellent music.
Bru & Boegie
Bru & Boegie is the brainchild of Mike Scott, a South African indie cartoonist, animator, and videogame developer. He began drawing the duo in 2002 while at Rhodes University and has spent over 20 years bringing them to life through two self-published comic books, numerous animated shorts, and South Africa’s first full-length 2D animated feature, Bru & Boegie: The Movie.
About the Team
Sheldon Bengtson has regularly collaborated on Mike’s projects, including serving as head writer on Twende, a show Mike co-created and which Mind’s Eye Creative produced. Martinus Van Tee voiced multiple characters in the film and often lends his diverse voice talents to Mike’s animation work. Wayne Simpson composed and performed the film’s unique score, while Pete O’Donoghue – who was heavily involved with audio for Twende and Mike’s 2024 short film SMASH! – handled sound design and SFX (and even voiced Pregnant Cat). Mind’s Eye Creative, South Africa’s foremost 2D animation studio, served as executive and supervising producer, and have partnered with Mike on numerous projects, including Moosebox for Nickelodeon, Twende, and now Bru & Boegie: METEORITE. Guy Zack, a friend and neighbor of Mike, wrote and performed the credits song, while Louise Pyper, who voiced the News Reporter, is Mike’s fiancée.
