I’m a South African animator, director, and indie game developer based in Plettenberg Bay, with over two decades of experience in creative storytelling. I am the creator of Bru & Boegie – a comedy franchise spanning webcomics, animated shorts, a trilogy of point-and-click adventures and South Africa’s first full-length 2D animated movie. My industry work includes animating and directing several Goldfish music videos, creating and directing Africa’s first Nickelodeon show Moosebox, co-creating Showmax’s first original 2D animated series Twende, and creating and directing the DisneyXD pilot Dogshow with Cat.

My name’s Mike Scott.
I’m an indie and I make stuff I think is cool – animation, videogames, and music.
This website is a running catalogue of my work. the site used to be www.mikescottanimation.com (well, that still works) but since I also make games, I figured a more general nickname I had at University ‘MIKDOG‘, would be a better catch-all.

My bro is Dave aka The Kiffness, a fantastic human. I’m very proud of him.

My Mom has a fantastic blog, she’s an author of 2 books. I’m also very proud of her.

My Dad is smart and doesn’t engage much with The Internet (which is apparently now 51% bots).

Work

You may know me from some of my work: Bru & Boegie games and animations, animated Goldfish music videos, my Nickelodeon show Moosebox, my Disney pilot Dogshow with Cat or the TV show Twende of which I was a co-creator. Back in the day I also co-created the animated show Jozi Zoo on South Africa’s eTV, and animated the intro to the daily pre-school eTV show Cool Catz.

I’ve also done a bunch of lesser-known things like a first season of my Beatboxing Dave show, 52 x HappyLand Shorts, weird [adult swim] idents with one of my animation heroes David O’Reilly, and a bunch of unused show pitches.

Socials

I nuked pretty much all my long-running social media accounts some time ago (they are very addictive and I don’t want to ‘build my castle in some billionaire’s kingdom’), but I’ve kept my YouTube channel and continue to post new stuff there. My wife now runs my other social medias and I don’t really have access to them. I do check the Discord though.

I also have a Mailing List that you can join at the bottom of the page. I still haven’t sent out a single newsletter. Maybe one day.
